This one smelled a little like “Uncooked bacon . . . no, hardboiled egg, no, uncooked hamburger,” said the Grapedonk. That didn’t sound promising, and on first tasting, it did a lot of “goofy weird sweet things” with a really awful aftertaste like “a dirty lawnmower.”
After 20 minutes, though, this merlot really straightened out. The aftertaste went away, but the “meatiness” remained. All in all, not a bad deal for $3. Just let it boof for a while!
We paid $2.99. Buy this wine at Trader Joe’s.
